Flu, COVID & RSV Vaccinations

Flu

Flu will often get better on its own, but it can make some people seriously ill. It’s important to get the flu vaccine if you’re advised to.

If you are eligable we will contact you around August / September however if you have not heard from us and you are eligable (see below as the NHS changes this year by year) please contact us and we will help you further.

Covid

If you are eligable we will contact you when we have dates for boosters etc. If you require a 1st or 2nd dose please book on the link below.

For more information about COVID-19 (including the vaccination) please use the links below:

For additional information go to www.gov.uk/coronavirus or www.nhs.uk/coronavirus

RSV

Everyone turning 75 years old on or after the 1 September 2024 will be offered a single dose of RSV vaccine. This is because older adults are more at risk of serious complications from RSV. We will contact you if you are eligible for this vaccine to offer you an appointment date.

You can still get the vaccine up to the day before you turn 80.

For the first year of the programme, the vaccine will also be offered to those who are already aged 75 to 79 years on 1 September 2024 as part of a catch up programme.

Details of the vaccine can be found here

Pregnant women are also being offered the vaccine to protect their babies from RSV. You can read the guide to the RSV vaccine for pregnant women here

Which vaccines am I eligible for?

  • Patients who are 75-79 years old will be invited for 3 vaccines:
    •      RSV – a respiratory virus which is like flu and causes many hospital admissions and some deaths nationally every year. This one-off vaccine is new to the NHS this year (although has been given to millions in other countries).
    •      Pneumonia – a one off vaccine that is offered to all over 65-year-olds once in their life time. We’ll offer you this if you haven’t had it already.
    •      Shingles- the first of 2 vaccines which will help protect against shingles. You will need the booster 6 months after the first one. Again, we’ll offer this if you haven’t had it already.
